Have you ever just really blown it… What an empty feeling… Seemingly it originates from assumed expectations… but I’m tired of expecting so much of everyone… including myself… and these self-inflicted wounds cut deep into my sense of confidence… but maybe that’s OK… and my confidence should never rest within… maybe disappointment breeds dependence… hmm… I’m just processing on this page…

Your voice speaks clear and Your presence draws near
As I stand on this rock and breathe You in
A timeless declaration of Your glory and majesty
Seen and heard amidst the beauty of Your creation
So I’ll breathe deep and long and slow.. taking in every minute
With each breath, with each glimpse, with every sound
You speak creation’s call for all to recognize the presence of the Divine
If these are Your invisible qualities, then I long to see the visible
Your majesty will be blinding
And in these moments of peace and rest and simplicity
I simply know that You are God…

Every once in a while we experience things that change our perception of the world we live in… Perhaps the tell-tale sign of such experiences is the resulting rearrangement of our priorities… Like the birth of a baby… or the death of a loved one… or the acceptance grace… or the freedom of forgiveness… or falling in love… or holding a starving child… or conversing with a homeless person… whatever the situation may be, these are the moments that will forever be ingrained in our memories… and in these precious times we learn a new way to live… a new way to love…

To be useful, we must have the capability to be productive… and I believe we all contain capability… But even capability itself does not equal productivity… Only productivity equals productivity… and stagnant capability is simply a glorified term for waste… So let’s not bank on potential… and let’s not depend on what could be… Instead, let’s dare to join the ranks of those who risk, and move, and progress, and attempt… even if our best efforts result in failure… and in rising from our failures let us rejoice in refininment and purification… like gold through the fire, we are sometimes placed under the flames for our own good… and in these moments of difficulty, we can rest in the realization that purging ultimately produces more fruit… Remaining confident that we will become useful vessels of strength and endurance… moving from what could be to what was and is… moving from the idea of potential into the reality of the productive…
